Ephesians 2:1-10 is one of the best summaries of problem of humanity and God's gracious rescue mission. It shows how we as fallen creatures were once separated from God, deserving of wrath and dead in our sins. This is the heartbeat of the gospel. Do we ever stop to consider the second most important reconciliation, the reconciliation required for the church to exist? Ephesians 2:11-22 in many ways mirrors the style and message of the previous section. It presents a different problem solved by the same solution; Jesus. This passage opens up for us an issue we almost never think about but it's one that all Christians should seek to understand if they want to recognise the full glory of Jesus.
